Perhaps the worst part of that story is that Gary Webb was relentlessly persecuted by both media and non-media operatives, overtly and covertly. The fact that the shadow operatives infecting our country are free to threaten and influence the media, politicians and individuals is the worst sort of downward spiral of an infected government. It's bad enough that happy criminals used the power of the federal government to deal drugs and assassinate foreigners and domestic individuals under the cloak of "national security". They are simply criminals that should be shipped of to jail. It's 10 X worse when these same groups have the power to continue their war upon the American people and cover themselves through control of media reporting, Hoover-like control of Congressional investigations and threats of violence to cover their sorry arses, so that coverage is still practially nil. I am still hearing various denials and excuses on that episode to this day.
