It's just easy enough to hedge against their obligations on failing munis that the odds are against you if you're anticipating a significant fall in the stocks due to a rise in defaults. It can happen, and eventually we'll probably see them at a small fraction of their current valuations. But your puts will be long expired by then. You'd be tooearly.<g>
