Pepsi's a great company, high-margin products that never go out of style. Maybe they'll have a contamination scare and we'll be able to buy it on the cheap <g>. Re IGT: Barron's had a cover story on MGM a couple of weeks ago, big new casino going in. Business Week, which usually is really stale, is pretty good this week: Cover story on China's fledgling high-tech economy, a piece on the airline industry, and a very good political analysis. Lawrence Lindsey, the president's chief economic advisor, has been a Bear, Bear, Bear from Day 1, and still is. Speculation is brewing about a replacement after the congressional elections, and a change in attitude. One problem: The White House would like to have a Wall Street figure either in that position, or at Treasury, but can't find anyone who isn't tainted by scandal.
More than ever, this is a stock-picker's market.
