what is the perfect alternative? For humans, perfection is more of a direction than a result - you strive rather than achieve. An economic system based solely on simplistic competition, ignores all the benefits of cooperation. Hence, the simplistically competitive is at a competitive disadvantage to the judiciously balanced system capable of reaping the benefits of both competition (drive to excel) and cooperation (teamwork synergy).
