Internap Partners with ManagedStorage International to Provide RestorePath
Data Backup and Restore Services Backed by Internap's Industry-Leading IP Network
Atlanta and Seattle, Oct. 24, 2002 - Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), the leading provider of intelligent routing services over the Internet, today announced the release of its RestorePath, a Data Backup and Restore service, powered by ManagedStorage International (MSI). This new offering is consistent with Internap's strategy of expanding its product portfolio to meet customers' needs. Over the last 6 months, while other telecommunications companies have been caught up in accounting irregularities, exaggerated revenues, and bankruptcies, Internap has introduced 5 new products, all designed to mitigate risk to its customers.
"With RestorePath, companies can trust that disasters will not impact the critical data needed to operate successfully. This new service fits well with the overall risk management approach of our business model. Internap is committed to developing even more solutions for our customers to depend on during this period of uncertainty in the industry," said Greg Peters, president & CEO of Internap Network Services.
"MSI is excited to partner with Internap to enable its RestorePath product by delivering the first affordable and guaranteed data protection service on the market. This service is a necessary step any business should take to ensure its company's data is protected on a daily basis. Whether data is stored electronically on-site or in secure remote sites, it is recoverable," said Tom Sweeney, president & CEO of ManagedStorage.
RestorePath stores and protects customers' data at separate, secured, hardened, and environmentally controlled sites. The service protects a company against unavailability or destruction of its primary processing facility by enabling customers to restore data to another facility.
With RestorePath, customer servers are located in their own data center or a public data center, while the storage infrastructure is at a separate data center. Customers can use their existing broadband access to connect to the storage infrastructure via the public Internet, through a Virtual Private Network or over a point-to-point connection.
"It's great knowing our data is protected with Internap's RestorePath service," said Jon Leland, technologist at K/P Corporation. "Now I do not have to worry about managing my data protection knowing storage experts are handling it. Additionally, RestorePath was simple to establish, is very affordable and protects my data every day." K/P Corporation is a large fulfillment, mailing, and printing company located within Internap's Seattle data center.
