Current. Conservative Republicans delivered the votes on NAFTA and GATT. That they have to play politics at times is merely to say that we have a democracy. Actually, we have been good multi- lateralists, only we reserve the right to act in our national interest when the situation is exigent, regardless of world opinion. Conservatives believe that too many federal regulations are redundant, and that even those that are worthwhile should be subjected to a cost- benefit test, of some sort. I will leave the Israel argument alone, right now...
