Bottom line, Iraq has been contained for 11 years.

There is no new information, leaving the only reason remaining that it comes up now is to goose the upcoming November elections, and to keep Bush's popularity from cratering. Political deceit #1.

Like the USSR, containment has worked. Unlike the USSR, a US military presence exists and multilateral UN inspection crews are on their way.

Should there be any actual evidence of noncompliance or a real threat to the US there are manifold options for counterattack.

Unlike Korea, Iraq isn't in possession of a functional nuclear program. That is a more serious situation that was concealed from Congress for two weeks, until the Iraqi vote was safely over, yet another example of egregious dishonesty at the highest levels. Political deceit #2.

A poll that asks the simple question:"Do you completely trust what the administration says?" would be interesting. I'd be surprised if it was 30%.
