If that is the way you ignorantly ignore the evil of Islam, so be it! You must focus on current events, and not history, and the your projected version of the future.
It's a canned excuse, which is very common of the human condition. If something is sinking, drag down everything around it with it. It doesn't make what you're looking at so bad if everything else can be made to look bad too...
Funny thing is, other religions have cyclical histories regarding violence. Right now, for the most part, all other religions have been quiet, except for a few exceptions. Islam has been consistent all the way throughout it's history, from its origination, all the way through!
