Hi Shootie -- state and local law enforcement departments send fingerprints to the FBI for identification all the time. The real question is -- why didn't they send the print to the FBI ? The only reason I can think of is they had a bunch of items with lots of prints -- and its not reasonable ask the FBI to do latent checks on all of them -- -- unless all of sudden you think one of the prints might belong to someone killing someone every other day.
