Tim, I agree about the sentiment indicators For shorter term trading I question their value compared to their value in longer trends. Bullishness or Bearishness can persist for a long time and extreme readings need to be confirmed by other technical indicators. The peak in bearishness can also precede the actual top or bottom by along time. Personally, I find the VIX an easier to use indicator.
