I merely pointed out that even if we had been guilty at sometime, it did not automatically mean that we could not now exercise moral judgment.

The U.S. government in the 1820s could in no way exercise moral condemnation of another country because that country had slavery. Similarly, the Bush government could not condemn Saddam for invading another country months after Bush had done the same thing.
