Kuwait was never a part of Iraq. Both Iraq and Kuwait were carved out of the Turkish empire - as several others have pointed out. I'll add by comparing the Iraq - Kuwait situation to our own continent. Both the US, Canada, the Bahamas, and a number of Caribbean nations were once part of the British empire. Would you support a claim that Canada, Bahamas, Jamaica, etc. were carved out of the US and we could annex them?

I don't believe Kuwait ever stole a drop of Iraq oil. I once saw a map of Kuwait's oil fields and wells and I didn't see anything near the Iraqi border close enough for horizontal drilling to tap.
