No doubt, re Annan's statements, and others decrying Iraq. The same is true for the others in the so-called "Axis of Evil". The issue is that there is no reason to escalate today, just for domestic political advantage, rather than gaining multi-lateral support, and a truthful approach to prioritizing.
The first priority is to get those who attacked us on 9/11. That has been set aside by the administration in a variety of ways, including suppressing Congressional investigation into why it happened, and who in the administration and government were responsible for allowing US citizens to be killed by the thousands. Not only do those unaccountable and criminally incompetent in the administration suddenly decide to look elsewhere, they also say, as Tenet did this week, that things are getting worse, not better.
Insanity is to continue doing what you did before, and expecting different results.
If we keep this same group in the administration and in the career positions in intel, we will see escalating terrorism. The only improvement will be by throwing them out asap, and getting in those with credibility and dedication to transparency and public service. To do otherwise is insane. |
