John Allen Muhammad, converted to Islam and recently changed his last name to Muhammad. He also reportedly provided security for Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan's Million Man March in Washington, D.C. Islamic leaders are cautioning Americans to not stereotype Muslims because of the actions of one man. "Many different African-American groups and organizations, through operational unity, held some type of security post at the Million Man March," said Quannel X, with the New Black Panther Party. Quannel X said that he is not sure if has ever met Muhammad. He also raised another concern. He said that investigators' descriptions of the sniper suspects might also have stereotyped African-American men. "The composite that they released was a typical African-American male. We all fit that description," Quannel X said.
