Ride buys winter hat maker PRESTON, Wash, July 22 (Reuter) - Ride Inc said it bought the assets of Galena Creek Trading Company Inc, a Reno-based winter hat manufacturer. Galena, which operates under the name of Smiley Hats, provides head and neck wear for winter sports enthusiasts. Galena Creek is majority owned by Robert Hall, chief executive officer of Ride Inc. The purchase price was comprised of $550,000 in cash and 320,000 shares of Ride common stock. The cash portion will be used to pay Smiley's creditors. Hall becomes a significant stakeholder in Ride, which reported a second quarter loss of $0.21 a share versus a profit of $0.04
