Regretfully, that's the story. Unfortunately, what can people do when they have an evil government --- except change it, of course.

But then, the next one is likely to be worse! It seems which ever way we turn we are trapped.

Perhaps that's why the Americans walk about carrying those little flags. If I remember correctly there's a saying to the effect that patriotism is the refuge of the destitute --- or was it the scoundrel --- or, maybe, it's the desperate? Could even be the demented! It's certainly the haven of the greedy.
