We expect the fed funds rate to end the year at 1.25% versus its current level of 1.75%. This 50 basis point decline in the fed funds rate could come in one fell swoop on or before the next FOMC meeting (November 6) or piecemeal - a 25 basis point cut at the November 6 meeting and another 25 basis point cut at the December 10 meeting.
