Maybe we should rethink the Posse Comitatus law.

I hope not.. Far too much opportunity for politization of the military, and dilution of mission..

I'd rather see Special Forces trying to foil a takeover of a nuclear plant than the Keystone Cops.

One of the things you'll find is that most of the DOE emergency response personnel are former SpecOps guys, who are trained along the same lines.

And were a nuclear facility to be captured by terrorists, I can almost guarantee you that the Federal Government would take over and deploy Delta or some other outfit to recover it. Because in such a case, it's not so much a matter of law enforcement, but of national security.. And that's military jurisdiction.

It's a real shame so many hostages died in that theater.. I can only imagine how terrible those Spetnatz folks feel about it.. My heart goes out to them..

But I think we could have pulled it off... Our folks are just as well trained, especially SWAT units in major cities, where they're called out all the time for special operations.

One more thing though... I think the President would have the authority to deploy Delta against such a terrorist attack against the US, say the Kennedy Theater.. But they would probably rely upon the FBI's HRT unit...
