but the view is not all that unusual in some black circles.

And that makes it right??

The white view of blacks in many parts of the south are considered "racist". Should they use the same logic you appear to be using?? That it might be stupid, but it's forgivable because it occurs in "white circles"??

This is insulting on two levels. First it diminishes Powell's achievement merely because his views don't match Belafonte's. And Powell can't counter with a reciprocal analogy about Belefonte because it's beneath his dignity.

Secondly, it implies that Bush is a slave master with a few token blacks, something I would personally find VERY offensive were it directed toward myself. But Bush has been MORE progressive towards placing QUALIFIED blacks in high positions of responsibility that was even the Clinton administration.

Why not just call it racism John?? Why even dignify it as merely "dumb"??

As for "my prejudice," I gather you think that folk who don't agree with your view on this are prejudiced.

Nope. Just morally compromised. At least with regard to the topic at hand.

I don't have to agree with your views John.. But neither will I use some form of "race-baiting" to claim that you've been handed your position by virtue of meeting some equal opportunity quota if it's plainly apparent that you have more than sufficient qualifications for the job.

What Belafonte said was despicable.. But despicable as it is, it is surpassed by your vain attempt to dignify Belafonte's actions...
