I found the McLaughlin article particularly annoying. I went back and reread the earnings press release. I can't remember a longer or more detailed earnings release. So what if ADT was not mentioned by name. There was a lot of information in the release.

There is a tradeoff between what you have to say , by law, what you want to say, and what would be better left unsaid. In the latter category, for example, is data that could be used by competitors. The earnings release broke down the revenues, income and margin by business segment. I'm sure that the management would have preferred to leave that out but the accountants made them publish the data.

I am satisfies that the management is making a serious effort to uncover all irregularities (don't you just love that word). They don't want any more bad news to come out 6 months or a year from now..
