Hey, CB, speaking of insults, redskins, wops, wogs and all that. On Friday night, it was Hindu new year celebrations here, "Diwali", hindunewyear.com so we walked over to Mount Eden where the Hindu temple is and the day's festivities were held. I didn't see any Moslem Head-Hacker Indians there so I guess it was all Hindus, but they all look the same so I wouldn't really know. I suppose the terrorists were busy getting their fertilizer bombs ready for the America's Cup celebrations in downtown Auckland at the Viaduct Basin.
Anyway, they don't all look the same. There was a group from Nagaland. nagaland.nic.in What struck me was how like North American Indians they were [Sioux, Navajo and that lot, not recent QUALCOMM immigrants]. Feathers on heads, and decoration and the appearance of them themselves. Music and dancing seemed similar too to the teepee, squaw, round the campfire style [not the Pueblo, Aztec, Inca stuff].
Japanese and Chinese don't have quite the same style [or even remotely similar]. It's as though this lot snuck past China and over the Bering Straits in the last ice age about 10,000 years ago and took over the USA, carrying on much as before.
Anyway, I thought you'd be interested [anything to distract you from associating with IRA supporters].
I'm trying to find a photo in cyberspace like the people who appeared at the Diwali at Mt Eden. Maybe they were your long lost cuzzies. Any idea about the origins of Sioux et al? Just idle curiosity really. Sorry, I have no idea whether there is a racial epithet for them, but I'm sure there is [if only local in India].
In terms of throwing out evil colonists, I wondered whether the Aztecs and Incas were displaced by these marauding Nagalanders and the USA should be handed back to the rightful owners from Peru. All those recent immigrants over the past few thousand years should go back where they came from. Remaking the past in the present seems a popular if stupid obsession these days. Compensation for Harry Belafonte for example, for slavery a couple of centuries ago. Indian taxpayers [parents arrived fob Bangalore 30 years ago for example] should pay Harry because somebody who had similar-coloured skin a couple of hundred years ago got paid damn all, other than room and board [which incidentally is what some people I know were paid in NZ in living memory], when they were pickin' cotton.
Maybe Harry wouldn't get paid because he's a foreigner, but Condoleezza and Colin should [despite their current high-paying houseboy and girl jobs].
