I rarely see them landing or taking off there except when there's an air show..

But I constantly see airlift assets flying in and out of there...

So I can't confirm your "source" claiming there were two combat fighter wings stationed there. I don't ever recall seeing a fighter wing there during my visits several years ago (when I was working with some OSI types)..

If so, they are probably Air Guard assets, and those boys wouldn't have likely been on duty at that time of day, NOR would they have had anything but practice ammo..

And that, JO, is why you didn't see any fighter units at Andrews ready for an intercept mission. The AirNG normally flies on weekends...

And they seldom fly with live ammo...
