the material i referred to was a paper of Katz's i believe (got it through someone i knew who had access to the appropriate databases, looks like you have similar access) on n-docosonal and its properties. this was a couple of years ago that i read it.

as i recall n-docosonal strips away the fatty layer protecting the genetic material of the virus resulting in the inability of the virus to penetrate the cell wall and thus its inability to hijack the necessary cellular machinery to reproduce itself

Lidakol should be useful against any viruses which rely on an outer fatty layer

anyway - antivirals typically work (my understanding) by messing with the genetic material to cause it to not replicate properly and thus abort the reproduction of the viral material. this could potentially result in a mutation of a virus wherein the tampering with the genetic material by the antiviral becomes ineffective.

Lidakol is a better approach in that the don't attack the problem from the standpoint of aborting replication but rather by preventing cell wall penetration

from what i gather you and at least one other in this thread have a background in the biological sciences ??

me i'm an electrical engineer who does real-time software - but whether it's controlling the flow of electrons, bytes or bits of genetic material it's all engineering none the less :-)

i hope LDAKA finally gets it right
