If some random white 75-year-old has-been entertainer said something bad about Powell, who would care? So hot-headed Andrew Sullivan picked it up, and now it's a big issue? Among the people who take Andrew Sullivan seriously these days, I suppose that's understandable. Once again: Until a month or so ago, Powell was dumped on fairly often around here and elsewhere for his allegedly dubious allegiance to Perle's war plans and pursuit of diplomatic alternatives. But that was, I guess, PC by right-wing standards. Now we got this un-PC-by-right-wing-standards storm stirred up by Sullivan, and if you don't swear allegiance to the line du jour, you're a racist? What a crock.
