Looks like you need to review your own posting. Here it is:
"Black people can be racist against black people. For example, many light skinned blacks look down on darker skinned blacks, and darker skinned blacks know it and resent it. The division between field slaves and house slaves tended to be drawn along the same lines, lighter skinned blacks in the household, darker skinned blacks in the fields. In New Orleans, black people used to have what they called "paper bag parties." If you were darker than a paper bag, you couldn't go to the party."
I asked if a part of this post was black racism. Specifically: "The division between field slaves and house slaves tended to be drawn along the same lines, lighter skinned blacks in the household, darker skinned blacks in the fields."
Since you chose not to answer, directly, my question but, instead, chose to be impolite I take it that the answer to my question is no. In other words the division between field slaves and house slaves tended to be drawn along the same lines, lighter skinned blacks in the household, darker skinned blacks in the fields was an example of racism most often practiced by whites. Without documentation of black slave owners sorting household slaves by color your inclusion of the statement in your post is not relevant.
your reference: americancivilwar.com does not support the thesis that black slave holders practiced household(light)/field hand(dark) racism. |
