As for appropriateness, if we did not feel fear when in danger, we would have died out as a species. If we were not angry when injured, we would not get up the adrenaline to defend ourselves. If we were not grateful when provided a boon, we would not develop social reciprocity. And so on......
These are all 3d, personal, physical interactions. Certainly when it comes to body-to-body interactions, we have certain physical responses that we are conditioned to--fear of danger, I wouldn't say anger, but defensiveness when attacked. But even these can be conditioned. Military pilots may feel fear when in danger, but they do not let fear govern them -- they are heavily trained to respond immediately and intelligently, not instinctively as our species generally does.
But again, you're talking entirely about the 3d, physical environment.
Is it your contention that the same is true in the SI environment? That for our survival, we must feel fear, or anger, or whatever emotions when we are insulted, or attacked? |
