I don't believe I've ever been to a party, since college, where people even got hostile. Granted I hang out in a restrained social set, but still. I've never had a guest say anything like that. But as Mr. X said to me the other day, "Just because you've never experienced it, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist." We were talking about the SI/real world thing. He suggested that maybe there are some people who live in a world like SI. Amazing thought. But it is possible, I suppose. The never experienced it thing probably works here too. If it is no big deal to Neo, then maybe his experiences are just really different from mine, or yours. Just a thought.
