Robust Partner Integration Relationship Helps Xilinx Speed Time to Market

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Grand Central Communications announced today that Xilinx, Inc., (Nasdaq: XLNX - News) the leader in programmable logic solutions, has chosen the company's Web Services Network to improve the exchange of critical product test data with IBM Microelectronics. By subscribing to Grand Central's Web Services Network, Xilinx is able to more easily, securely, and cost-effectively integrate with IBM Microelectronics to improve the rollout of the company's products and speed their time to market. By meeting-in-the middle and connecting to Grand Central's Web Services Network, Xilinx and IBM Microelectronics are able to leverage their existing IT infrastructures, security and file formats without making changes or adding software.

IBM Microelectronics and Xilinx have created a collaborative design and development model that enables the companies' innovations to be taken to market rapidly. Grand Central Communication's network provides a connectivity solution that increases the speed, reliability, and proactive notification of transmission of Xilinx's critical test data from IBM Microelectronics. This improved integration relationship significantly reduces costly chip production issues for Xilinx, resulting in a higher quality product and greater overall productivity.

"Xilinx connected to Grand Central's Web Services network in less than one day, making this one of our quickest and easiest IT integration projects ever," said Sheri Anderson, chief information officer for Xilinx. "More robust and secure integration with IBM Microelectronics through Grand Central's network also enables Xilinx to derive greater value from our existing IT assets by avoiding the purchase of additional software or hardware."

IBM Microelectronics offers a comprehensive suite of testing services and solutions for a wide range of industry-leading chip manufacturers, including Xilinx. Previously delivering test data to its customers through an FTP link, IBM Microelectronics now uses an easier, more reliable and secure HTTPS transport protocol.

"Getting partners to integrate within an extended enterprise has traditionally been very difficult and costly. Xilinx's adoption of Grand Central's Web Services Network demonstrates how secure, reliable, and easy our network is in addressing this increasingly important business problem," said Craig Donato, president and chief executive officer of Grand Central Communications. "We're committed to providing a quick, cost-effective and comprehensive integration solution for Xilinx, while creating an easier way for IBM Microelectronics to communicate with its customers."
