Thats a bit weak Lorne. It's a matter of history, that at various times the US supported both Bin Laden and Sadam. When they got to big for their collective britches Uncle Sam pulled the plug on them. Reason enough I guess to create some animosity.
Interestingly enough I have learned a few things about Islam. Mohammed came a bit late on the scene, about the 6th century. The tenets of the religion are in general not to much different than that of the Jewish people. Which shouldn't surprise given their proximity. Looks like he took the beliefs of the Jews added a few twists and began attracting followers. Squabbles over the fine points and of course real estate have continued ever since.
I expect to be challenged on this, so I'll admit right now I took a very brief look at the subject
