I certainly agree with you on that point, but other stocks in the SOX have had a good run as well over the past 3 weeks and they didn't fare as well. However, I still agree it must have been the institutions in with "both feet" today, particularly with respect to AMAT. It is the one "must own" stock in the semi-equip area for the institutions. Volume for AMAT today was over 50M shares - it was only the 10th time this year for volume over 50M shares. KLAC and NVLS had good volume as well while TER's volume was rather "puny".

Also, most importantly, AMAT's 4th quarter and FY ends this week. They are the only SOX company on the Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct schedule.
