Buckley, I read his novels. I found them a fun read at first but they are much less so of late. Like all of us, he is getting old. Remember Michener's Novels toward the end? I have just finished the "Utah" section of Ambrose's "D-Day" and have started the "Omaha" section, the toughest to read. That is the "Private Ryan" sequence. All of our "Prep" failed, Air, Naval Bombardment, etc. A real slaughter. Bradley almost pulled us off the beach. It was the Bravery of our Jr. Officers and NCO's that pulled it out. I have been following the takeover of the Los Angeles Police Department by the former Commissioner of New York, William Bratton. I wish him well. The Rampart Scandal resulted in the cessation of policing of LA Gangs, and I hope he can turn it around.
