years. Last week, Bell Labs, the research arm of Lucent
Technologies, unveiled two new processors that will soon allow cell
phones and other handheld devices to make use of BLAST (Bell Labs
Layered Space-Time), a wireless networking protocol developed
entirely at Bell Labs that's potentially eight times as fast as the
protocols currently used.
