Your diatribe about "freedom" is bizarre. First, there are not many people cowering in fear, or living in gated communities. Even during the sniper scare here, most people went about their business, and I cannot remember the last time I ran across a gated community. In any event, we were discussing freedom, not the distribution of wealth, so you changed the subject. Besides, I happen to know that we have a rather good welfare system in this country. Some may fall between the cracks, but not many, and certainly not many elderly.
