Monday October 28, 5:33 pm ET

TORONTO, Oct. 28 /CNW/ - (TSX - BWR)...Breakwater Resources Ltd. is pleased to announce that the employees of its El Mochito Mine located in Honduras, Central America, recently set a new safety record having worked 1,175,051 person hours without experiencing a lost-time accident. This must be acknowledged as an exceptional accomplishment and surpasses El Mochito's previous record of working 1,073,783 person hours without a lost-time accident. In both instances, El Mochito established new records for mine safety for mines operating in Central America.
Colin Benner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Breakwater Resources said, "Robert Byrd, Vice President and Rod Lamond, General Manager responsible for El Mochito, their management team and all of the El Mochito employees are to be commended for once again surpassing 1,000,000 person hours worked without a lost-time accident and for establishing a new benchmark for mine safety in the region. Working more than one million person hours without a lost-time accident is a significant achievement for any operation in any environment, but having accomplished this feat twice in an emerging country is truly extraordinary. On behalf of the corporation and its Board of Directors sincere congratulations are extended to all involved."
