The main purpose of a floppy used to be to load programs. But they are all on cds now, the next is file transfer and for that you either network your pc or nb or use lap linc or email the file or ftp it.

Or in another 6 months, all will be wireless....

But it makes perfect sense, think of the space you save on the note book.
