If one is old enough at 16 to be executed for a crime, should one also be old enough to contract to buy a car, get married, enter the military, tell her parents to f*** off and go live on her own without needing permission from a court? And, of course, drink? It seems weird to me to say to a person "you're old enough to die for a crime, but not old enough to drink or smoke."

Couldn't even legally have wine with the last meal.
