Anyone can follow permanent creation here if you don't mind digging. They don't make it easy.

ftp://ftp.ny.frb.org/perm_omo/

For 14 months between April '01 and May '02 permanent creation averaged 5.359 billion per month. For the next five months including October which has zero coupon passes so far (they could still do one in the next two days) the average per month is 2.576 billion. I'm not real good at math but that looks approximately cut in half to me. -ggg-

BTW I would never call anyone an imbecile for not knowing what the Fed is doing, they make it extraordinarily difficult to follow the money.
