You are assuming a fanaticized society. I am not. Since most Arabs and/or Muslims are not fanatics, I am assuming that their wider societal values would lead to moderation. It is pretty simple.
I do not claim that we are a minority within a world society. I claim that a world society does not exist, and therefore we must be faithful to our values. Additionally, I would no more call the votes of representatives of assorted dictatorships "democracy", than I would call the opinions of assorted audience members at the Jerry Springer show "philosophy". Nor do I think that there can be a practical amalgamation into one electorate without a substantial shared culture. There is no such thing as a world democracy, there are democracies in various countries.
The world can do what it likes. If it wants to develop, however, it will modernize. I see no reason to subject our society to the views of incompatible, unsuccessful, and irrational societies. If they want to go their own way, fine. But we will defend ourselves against them, if need be, and will encourage them to do what needs to be done, rather than letting them blame us for their own faults....... |
