Would it really matter if one had a fanatical belief in the sanctity of marriage (using your criteria), as long as it did not entail violence? It seems to me that mere unwillingness to even listen is a trivial criterion for fanaticism. Fanaticism involves taking moral conclusions to implausible extremes, and feeling licensed to behave transgressively on behalf of the cause.
