They can cover more of the globe that way. Chemtrak
has US FDA approval and Cortex has approvals, I
would assume, in other countries outside the US.

As for shipment of Hp Chek goes...Chemtrak is still
waiting on Astra Merk. What on earth is *THEIR*
holdup is beyond me. They move incredibly slowly
is all I can tell. I'm sure Chemtrak is less
than happy with them. I would be too if I was
sitting on a product which had the potential for
creating major revenues (major for a small-capper)
and a big fish like A/M was taking its sweet time
getting the whole deal rolling.

Also, I was reading an article in Drug Topics, 2 June
1997, which contained an interview with Mr. Covell
(Chemtrak President). He stated that the company was
aggressively pursuing [distribution] deals with companies
posessing desireable products in the testing market. That
is very very encouraging if you ask me. Although my
initial reaction to the Parent's Alert deal was wrought
with skepticism, I believe that it will probably turn
out to be a smart move. As Mr. Covell put it once,
"the urine test is still the gold standard in this
country". I think that it would be a good idea for
parents to purchase the kit just to have on hand. That
way the kids can point to it when the feel under pressure
from their peers to do drugs, etc. My best hope would
be that it is used as a deterrent in most cases.

G'night...Bill
