JETFORM AND OPEN TEXT ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC ALLIANCE Industry leaders to jointly develop and market Web-based Java forms and administrative workflow solutions OTTAWA/WATERLOO, July 22 /CNW/ - JetForm Corporation (NASDAQ: FORMF) and Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEXF) today announced a strategic partnership that will enable the two companies to jointly develop and market powerful, enterprise-class solutions for managing and using Java-based forms over corporate intranets and extranets. JetForm is the global leader in Web-enabled electronic forms and administrative workflow, providing solutions that streamline business processes. Open Text is the pioneer and market leader in scaleable intranet application software for managing documents and collaborative business processes. Together they will develop software that will allow organizations to collaboratively create, track and manage what may be vast libraries of electronic forms, and to use forms in collaborative workflow processes. For Livelink users, this partnership will provide them with JetForm's ability to design and deploy forms-based applications from within their Livelink intranet. In addition, they will be able to create and modify Java-based forms as a user interface to aspects of Livelink, which currently uses dynamically constructed HTML pages as its primary interface. For JetForm Customers, this will bring to bear Open Text Livelink's, ability to handle complex version histories and to route forms through controlled workflows to ensure that they are approved before use. Users will be able to retrieve from the Livelink library both the data and form associated with any particular transaction, always certain of the integrity of the data and that the right form is being delivered with the right data. Working as partners means we can both get to where we're going faster - helping enterprises manage the full range of their business processes using the unprecedented connective power of the Web,'' said Abe Kleinfeld, Open Text's Senior Vice President of Marketing. JetForm's Java forms capabilities will go far in enabling our customers to do just that. We are delighted not only with our development, marketing and sales agreement with JetForm, but also with the agreement's comprehensiveness and depth.'' This is a win-win situation for both companies, and for our customers, many of whom have already begun moving to a Web-based platform,'' said Phil Weaver, JetForm's Executive Vice President. We've already committed to providing our customers with Java forms solutions, and we're extending our reach by partnering with the acknowledged leader in business applications for corporate intranets and extranets. We're excited at the prospect of working together.'' The two companies will jointly promote the new products through their direct sales forces and reseller channels to leverage each other's efforts. The first integrated products are expected to be available from both companies this fall. |
