Oh, come on Carranza. Why expect the worst of everything? Anyway BP used to consider me the rabid environmentalist - I used to have quite a bit of fun on that.
In the mid 1990s was my last bit of fun when there was a public problem with leaking fuel pumps. I'd warned them they'd get such problems if they didn't design their fuels right for the introduction of unleaded petrol.
Sure enough!
They even got a Queens Counsel onto me [I realized later] no doubt with a view to using litigation to shut me up, sue me or something. I'd been on the major news programme saying what I thought, which as you can imagine, was a bit. Unfortunately for them, I suppose everything I said was true and there was nothing they could do.
Also, I was an environmentalist 40 years ago, before most of the Born Again foaming at the mouth rabid types were even born. It's annoying to have wet behind the ears kids lecturing me about environmentalism. What a joke!!
The polluters ruined my harbour. Killed it stone dead! It was red with blood in the upper reaches [where they'd wash the abattoir muck into the harbour]. They built a sewage treatment pond where my friend and I went rafting as children. They filled the harbour with rubbish at Pikes Point tip with NO control of what went into it. It was back the truck up and dump into the water. Pacific Steel dumped all their muck onto the ground and therefore into the ground water. Stink Bridge stank. The midges and stink from the oxidation and sludge ponds filled the air. Vast clouds of midges like poplar trees rising 50 metres.
We recycled everything. Nothing left the property as trash. Glass went in a container for recycling. Cans squashed flat and collected for a year then to the metal collector. Newspapers and all organic into compost. There wasn't much plastic [bags were washed and reused - they were a luxury item then].
Now, I realize recycling like that is a waste of time and money and I chuck it all in with the rest, but the family have discovered recycling and the council has stupid blue bins to put recyclables in to waste money and kill people. Two young people have died and more will because the process is dangerous - riding around on trailers among traffic, sorting trash on the road, dropping bottles, getting crushed dead in the machine [one guy] when reaching in to get a shoe or something. Another guy killed [I forget what happened to him].
There is no stasis on earth. We'll always be getting more or less of everything. We have to manage the process in a utilitarian way [maximum happiness achieved]. Right now, Japanese are dying out faster than penquins and polar bears. Seals are taking over, even in La Jolla. Oncologists are needed due to poor dietary selection and sucking in smoke etc. Cancer is largely self-selected [though there are DNA short-straws]. Melanin-deficient people should keep out of the sun.
Pretty soon, humans will be dying out. The whole culture of children has gone globally. Without a child/family culture, women won't be trained to expect to have babies and they won't! They have a choice and they'll make it. They are already making it.
Birth control is now into the second generation and it works. Having children is now a function of choice, not libido.
Things are getting better every day!
And then, we'll get CDMA cyberphones and all will be Peace, Light, Harmony, Happiness, Fun, Prosperity and Longevity.
