Subject: Potential Qcharts Users Beware: Feed Sucking More than Usual (Reposted from the Yahoo thread) From: "agent99" <agent99@y...> Date: Wed Oct 30, 2002 6:11 pm
Today was even worse than yesterday. Every server. All day. It has been that way for weeks and weeks. LAG LAG LAG and MORE LAG. And Quote.com continues to do nothing about it. And judging by the inappropriately named "Network Updates" page, they don't even acknowledge that there is a problem. When will Quote.com people give us some idea as to why services have degraded even further than before Sterling servers were added many many many many moons ago? This is just ridiculous.
Do yourselves a favor if you're considering QCharts, and look elsewhere. Some of us unfortunately have necessary applications that use the feed and we are tied in until those applications see the light and get alternate feeds, and therefore we stick around, as misguided as it may seem. But even that reason is becoming moot since the feed is such crap.
This company is just a mess. DON'T GET SUCKED IN AND AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS.

99,
I know this is going to drive you nuts, but I ran just fine, all day, as usual.
15 charts, 3 quotesheets, T&S, 2 hot list run in quotesheet (more load than Flame HotList). A fairly substantial Equities watching type workspace.
At the start of Earnings Season a couple of weeks ago, I did have to cut back on my data demands in the workspaces. The Institutional buying Market at Open, and large program-trades baskets during the day had trade rates above normal, and my CPU was brought to it's knees, pegged at 100%. Once I adjusted for that, been OK. One would be surprised at the amt of cpu that ES alone takes. I subbed SPY, using them as 'indicators' as I do, just trading stocks.
And I also know you don't want to hear this again, but have you been running Pingplotter "continuously" (15 or 20 sec interval) against the server connected to. I had a P-mail case last week where the person's local ISP had turned to crap.
fwiw...and please, I know you're upset, but I'm just a messenger here simply sharing that my experience has been different.

Larry,
I know way to many people who are experiencing the very same problems that I'm experiencing. This is no fluke. I run P4 machines with at least 512M of ram using either XP or Win2k using both Cable and DSL and every server is lagged. It's completely unreliable. And if it can be believed, is getting worse.
I have been running the same chart set up for years now. Very little change. I do have the ES and NQ up, but I trade them actively. So I can't and won't take them down. My data, as many others' (who post here, SI and elsewhere) has steadily degraded.
Why should YOU or I have to change our setups at all? I don't understand that one. They have clearly fallen down on the job as they have consistently done for the several years I have been using them. They deserved to be slagged and often. And if I can help just one person to find their way to another data vendor I'll consider my rants a total success. I'll stop when they get off their butts, communicate with us and treat us with respect like a professional company should and FIX THEIR DAMNED FEEDS.
