"AMD has already made a sale of 10,000 Opterons to Cray" No, Dan3, AMD hasn't sold these to Cray yet. Read the press release - the delivery isn't for at least a year and a half - in mid -2004. "so the design win went to AMD's Opteron, instead. " Yes it did, Dan3. However, when AMD further slips delivery of the Opteron and reliability issues with the hypertransport manifest themselves, Intel will be there to assist Cray with Itanium CPUS, boards and/or systems. You just shouldn't count your eggs before they are hatched. Just like you counted the 25 million Hammers per quarter that AMD was going to ship in 2003. Right Dan3?
