That's a good idea Mephisto...............if the people kept a copy of their ballot then it could be rechecked against the officail results if a gross error appeared to have been made like what happened in FLorida in 2000.

We should make carbon copies of all voting ballots and require that they be held for 60 days after an election. ANy ballot that was not in the hands of a voter would be null and void. That way the vote counters couldn't punch out additional chads to make the vote void.

What happens now is that the ballots get additional punches. It's easy to nullify votes by punching too many chads on the ballot. If the voter punched one hole near the name of his choice candidate, then the counters only had to punch another hole among that office's candidates in order to nullify the vote for the official count.
