As soon as I saw your post I immediately thought of this passage from C.S. Lewis and when I googled it, this came up. I hope you find it edifying.

Woodrow Kroll: Clive Staples Lewis set out to prove that Christianity was wrong--and ended up becoming a Christian. He became, as he put it, "the most reluctant convert in England."
As an author, C. S. Lewis had an unusually creative ability to describe God. In his delightful series, The Chronicles of Narnia, Christ is portrayed as a lion called Aslan. In the first book of that series, we overhear this conversation:
Young Girl: "Is he...quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion."
Adult Male Voice: Safe?...'Course he isn't safe. But he's good."
Woodrow Kroll: Lewis understood that God is not a cuddly kitten. The writers of Scripture had that same understanding but also reveal the goodness of God. Psalm 99:1 says, "The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!" But Jeremiah says, "'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, 'thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.'"
C. S. Lewis understood and respected God. He became a hero of the faith. You can too if you know God and meditate upon His Word.
