That is exactly what I had - modem was directly installed by a technician into a single PC - after buying a new computer, I then got the router and was able to network the new computer without any problems. Now, I'm changing providers and I am starting all over - I'm thinking that maybe I have to configure one computer directly into the modem to start the service, and then after it is up and working try setting up the network thru the router -the same way I did it originally.
