"Do you think Jesus was talking about Herod there?"

Course not. He was only talking about the Christians. Uh...was there a membership list? None existed at the time Chris. Well we could substitute the word "believers" for Christians if you want to simply include those who believed in his message. But what about those he had not yet spoken to who would accept him at a later date? Were they excluded or can we include them in the group of "believers/brethren?"

And how does this tie in with your earlier statements about the servant who had a double standard?

"In the world of the church, you have both taken on responsibilities for each other. That, as Matthew points out, is what it means to become a brother in Christ.

At the same time I do think you should be able to assume a certain level of righteous responsibility from one to another within your church community. Are you saying you can then be a deceitful liar and despot to everyone else or simply that you can not assume the same level of trust else where.

Careful with your list making there Chris.
