Nope.

You hook one ground wire to the outlet, the other ground wire to earth ground. When an imbalance shows up between the two sides of 220v, mechanical contacts are opened within ms of the event.

Cost $25. Current ratings available up to 100A.

If Europe manages to find a better and safer way to do it, our NEC will incorporate it.

Until then, why don't we all hold our breath.
