"Sawyer... said global warming would lead to the melting of the Greenland ice sheet, which in turn would cause a five to seven meter (16 to 23 ft) sea-level rise and the inundation of coastal regions"

The surface area of Greenland Ice Shelf is about 1/300 of the surface area of the planet that is covered by water.

So, that means:

a) The Greenland Ice Shelf is on average 6m x 300 = 1.8km thick

and

b) If it were to melt in its entirety, all of the resulting water would end up in the sea. None would be absorbed by the atmosphere or end up in water tables despite the rise in global temperatures.

Clearly a and b are both very wrong so either my calcs are wrong or Greenpeace is out to deceive.
